Frequently Asked Questions
Straightforward answers for organizations considering Reaxiom as a technology partner.
Getting Started
How do engagements usually start?
With a conversation. You do not need a fully defined scope or RFP. Most engagements begin with a discussion about what is working, what is not, and what you are trying to accomplish. We go from there.
What should I expect from an initial conversation?
We listen, ask questions, and give you an honest assessment. There is no pitch deck. If we can help, we will explain how. If we are not the right fit, we will tell you that too.
What types of organizations do you work with?
Startups, growing businesses, enterprise organizations, and nonprofits. The common thread is that these organizations depend on technology to operate and need senior-level guidance to get it right.
Engagement Types and Size
What size projects do you take on?
Everything from focused assessments and targeted fixes to multi-year platform builds. The determining factor is not size but whether the work benefits from senior architecture and experienced leadership.
Do you offer ongoing partnerships or just project work?
Both. Many engagements start as a defined project and evolve into long-term partnerships. We offer retainer arrangements, fractional leadership, and ongoing advisory alongside project-based work.
How quickly can you start?
It depends on current availability and the scope of work. Once we agree on an approach, we move quickly. For urgent situations like project rescue, we prioritize rapid engagement.
Custom Applications and SaaS
Can you help build an MVP or SaaS product?
Yes. We design and build MVPs and SaaS platforms with architecture that supports growth from day one. The goal is a product you can ship, learn from, and scale without a costly rewrite later.
Do you build ERP or internal business systems?
Yes. We build custom ERP systems, operational platforms, and internal tools tailored to how your organization actually works, not how a vendor thinks it should.
Do you integrate AI into existing systems?
Yes, where it creates measurable value. We integrate AI capabilities into existing applications for automation, insights, and enhanced user experiences. We do not recommend AI for its own sake.
Will I own the code?
Yes, always. You own everything we build for you. Full source code, documentation, and deployment artifacts are yours.
Architecture and Modernization
Can you rescue a failing project?
Yes. We stabilize first, then plan forward. Project rescue starts with an honest assessment of what went wrong, what can be saved, and the fastest path to a working state. Then we build a realistic plan from there.
Can you modernize a legacy system without a full rewrite?
Often, yes. Full rewrites are expensive and risky. We assess whether incremental modernization, strategic refactoring, or a phased replacement makes more sense for your situation and budget.
Do you provide architecture assessments?
Yes. An architecture assessment gives you a clear picture of where your system stands, what risks exist, and what improvements would have the most impact. It is often the best first step when you are unsure where to begin.
Fractional Leadership
What does fractional CIO/CTO/CDO mean in practice?
It means you get strategic technology leadership, roadmap planning, vendor oversight, team guidance, and executive-level decision-making without the cost of a full-time hire. You get the experience and accountability of a senior leader on a schedule that fits your organization.
Can you work alongside our existing team?
Yes. We regularly collaborate with internal engineering, IT, and leadership teams. The goal is to elevate your existing team's capabilities, not replace them.
Do you help with technical hiring?
Yes. We help define roles, evaluate candidates, structure technical interviews, and ensure you are hiring the right people for your actual needs, not just filling seats.
Practical Details
How does pricing work?
We offer fixed-scope projects, monthly retainers, hourly consulting, and milestone-based arrangements. Pricing depends on scope, complexity, and duration. We discuss this openly early in the conversation so there are no surprises.
How long does a typical project take?
It depends on scope, but we structure work to start delivering value quickly. An assessment might take one to two weeks. An MVP might take two to four months. Larger platforms are phased so you see progress throughout.
Where are you located?
Reaxiom is based in Royal Oak, Michigan and works with clients across North America. Most work is done remotely, with on-site availability as needed.
Do you follow security and compliance best practices?
Yes. All systems are designed with security, auditability, and governance in mind. This includes role-based access control, data protection, encryption, and cloud security best practices appropriate to your industry.
Still have questions?
The best way to get answers specific to your situation is to start a conversation. No commitment, no predefined scope.
